At Fidelitas we’ve started a new trend internally – “fistbumping” our team publicly every time someone does something awesome. Everyone needs a fist bump once in awhile. It’s just one more way we can make them feel appreciated. Studies have found that corporate climate and culture have a huge impact on turnover, which is one of the most expensive costs a business can encounter.
So why not lower costs and raise morale with public praise? Whether you call it a fist bump, a shout out, or something completely unique to your culture, the key is that you actually make a habit of doing it. No one will complain if you flood their inboxes with legitimate public praise for fellow team members. Besides making someone’s day, you might just make their stay with your organization a little longer than it would have been otherwise.

I agree! Culture can make all the difference in the world for the strength & ingenuity of a company. For those companies who value their employees & create an environment where it gives each person a sense of purpose & belonging, those employees develop a sense of loyalty to the company they work for and the people they work with. I believe those are the things that clients pay attention to even if they can’t put their finger on it as to why exactly they want to work with this company over another company. We definitely need to give credit where credit is due and when a person is recognized & respected for what they’ve done, it will give them the confidence to do even greater things in the future.
